Mysterio
🔮 Mysterio was supposed to be another quick paint job… until I opened the box and realized he was missing an entire arm. 😩 At first, I was bummed and considered setting him aside until I could find a replacement. But then I thought, why not go all-in and try kitbashing for the first time?
I pulled a workable arm off another mini in my bits box and sculpted a square gauntlet to match his original arm. It’s not perfect, but it's enough to not be a huge distraction. To help draw the eye away from my rookie sculpting, I added some floating magical triangle effects using bent paperclips... more illusions taking form. They were a last-minute idea, but now they’re one of my favorite parts of the piece!
This was also my first time experimenting with Turbo Dork metallic paints, which I used for the helmet. The way it shifts and sparkles in the light really gives him that over-the-top showman energy Mysterio needs. It was a bit trickier to work with than regular metallics, but totally worth it.
In the end, this mini turned out to be a lot more work than I expected but it pushed me to try new techniques and I’m super proud of the result. He’s got his own unique flair now and I love that the fix became part of his personality.
