Early Marvel United minis, re-shot
Fresh photos of some classic minis from my early Marvel United days ✨
When I first painted these chibis, I was just figuring out highlighting, dry-brushing, and how to keep my left-handed brushwork neat.
Now that my photography game has caught up, it’s fun to see how much I’ve grown. These all hold up great on the table, but only a few truly stand up to close-up shots (might share those high-res favorites in a separate post).
Swipe through for a little time-capsule of my painting journey, proof that every brushstroke adds up. 🎨💪

The full guide
- Your first mini: the minimum setup that actually matters →Two brushes, a handful of paints, primer, water, paper towel and decent light. Everything else can wait.
- Your first 10 minis: a better beginner roadmap →Just get started. Give each early mini one job, don't be precious about them, and let photos show you the progress.
- Budget mini photography: make the paint job look like it does in person →Your minis don't suck, your lighting does. Construction paper, a daylight bulb, a mug and a timer fix most of it.
- Hobby slump or setup problem? Four ways to restart momentum →Sometimes it's motivation. More often the paints are buried and the next step is fuzzy. Make starting smaller.
