Tomb Kings Thrower
Ancient kings do not forget. They do not forgive. And apparently… they can throw a tight spiral. 💀🏈
The Tomb Kings of Blood Bowl are relics of the long-dead empire of Nehekhara, dragged from their barrows not for conquest, but for sport. In the world of Warhammer, they were once god-kings and conquerors. On the pitch, they are slow, relentless, and built to grind opponents into the sand one block at a time. No flashy elf nonsense. Just bone, bronze, and inevitability.
Which makes the Thrower… an interesting choice.
On a team that wins by marching forward like an ancient phalanx, the passing game is usually more theoretical than practical. He may be the “weakest” position in pure efficiency terms, but he’s also one of the most characterful sculpts in the roster. That raised arm, the crested helm, the regal armor plates, it all screams fallen royalty trying something just slightly outside the meta.
For this squad, I leaned fully into Pittsburgh Steelers colors, black and gold with warm bronze highlights to keep the ancient feel intact. I wanted him to read as both undead and professional franchise athlete, which is a weird Venn diagram I am increasingly comfortable living inside. The gold armor got layered up from a deep ochre base to brighter edge highlights, keeping the recesses warm and dusty so he still feels like he crawled out of a tomb five minutes before kickoff. The black cloth was pushed with subtle grey highlights so it reads clean under lights, but still matte and heavy.
Basing is dry, sandy, a little scrub grass for that desert stadium vibe. No lush turf for these guys. Just grit.
Season 3 starts with bones and blitzes. More mummies coming soon… 🏟️💀
